A team of girls made up of players from Warsash Wasps, Crofton Saints, and Winchester City Flyers were chosen by the Hampshire Football Association to represent Hampshire in a recent festival played at Northwick Park, London, and afterwards at Wembley.
Andy Jackson, coach of the Warsash Wasps girls' team describes the day.
"It was an amazing day which the girls (and the coaches!) will never forget.
The day started at Northwick Park where the team were introduced to each other. Due to many girls from Warsash being on holiday our team comprised players from Warsash Wasps, Crofton Saints and Winchester City Flyers. The girls all got on very well, but found the games tough in the morning having not played together as a team before. They also had great fun trying out the various challenges and inflatable games which were set up in the park. They also took the opportunity to have their photo taken with the Community Shield.

In the afternoon we transferred to Wembley Stadium. There was great excitement as we walked through the Players Entrance and emerged from the tunnel onto the pitch - what an amazing stadium!
After a big group photo was taken of all the teams we waited for our turn to step onto the pitch. The girls walked past the cheering crowd (we had 40+ supporters with us) and had a team photo taken with Sir Geoff Hurst. I had to explain to some of the girls who he was and challenged them to score a hat-trick at Wembley. As we approached the pitch there was a familiar face to cheer us on - Adrian Penrose from the Hampshire FA who admitted to being very envious of the girls having the chance to play at Wembley.
The girls were fantastic in this last match of the day. Jessica Tanner from Warsash Wasps scored twice, almost emulating Sir Geoff, and Phoebe Williams had a number of great chances saved brilliantly by the opposing goalkeeper. After the final whistle the girls shook hands with their opponents and then walked up the steps to the Royal Box to receive their medals. There was still more to come as two of the girls were interviewed for the CBBC Sportsround programme.
