Pre-schools and Day Nurseries

 

Pre Schools offer informal education for children from 2 years 9 months through to school age and are inspected and registered by OFSTED (this is an external hyperlink). A pre-school session lasts approximately 2 ½  hours with children attending up to 5 sessions a week. Funding for 3 and 4 year olds is available through the Early Education and Childcare Unit. Children learn through play and follow a pre-school curriculum covering personal and social development, language and literacy, mathematics, knowledge and understanding of the world, physical and creative development. Some pre-schools in the Fareham area are privately owned whilst others are community run.

Day nurseries provide flexible day care ranging from full day to sessional. Many nurseries will take children from 6 months onward. They are inspected and registered by OFSTED (this is an external hyperlink) annually.
