Thursday 8th April

A Tomb with a View

Venue:  Victory Hall, Warsash Road, Warsash

Time:  7:30pm

Admission:  £6, Concessions £5

Warsash Theatre Club presents a Comedy Thriller A Tomb with a View by Norman Robbins.  In a sinister old library, a dusty lawyer reads a will involving some millions of pounds, to an equally sinister family. One member has warewolf tendencies, another wanders around in a toga of Julius Caeser, a third is a gentle elderly lady who plants more than seeds in her flower beds. As the story unfolds, family members mysteriously disappear. What about the sympathetic nurse and the author of romantic novels - are they all or more than, they seem to be? All is revealed as the plot twists and turns to its surprising conclusion. The play is directed by Peter Murphy. Tickets available from Everett's Chemist, Warash, contact 01489 571622 or email info@warsashtheatreclub.co.uk.

La Cage Aux Folles by Jean Poiret.  Continuing our French theme, the second play in our spring season whisks the audience south to St Tropez in the 1970s. In the heat of the summer, the notorious nightclub “ La Cage aux Folles“ throbs to the pulsating beat of disco and divas. Enter stage right Albin, the star of the show, who lives an openly gay lifestyle with Georges, whose son Laurent, a product of a one-night stand some twenty years previously, arrives to announce his engagement to the daughter of an extreme right-wing politician. Will the wedding plans go ahead once the father discovers the truth about Laurent's parents? Will true love win through in the end? And will Albin accept the presence of Laurent's real mother, Simone, at dinner? Add to this a temperamental drag queen, a camp butler and a paparazzi photographer keen to get a scoop, and the scene is set for a hysterical farce of mistaken identity, cat-fights and feminine charm. First produced in 1973, this version is an adaptation from the original French play, which was made into a successful film in 1978. It proved so popular that it spawned two further remakes, the musical adaptation in 1983 and the Hollywood film The Birdcage in 1996.  For further information contact 01329 556156 or email admin@titchfieldfestivaltheatre.com
