Electronic Billing
If you would like to receive your Council Tax or National Non-Domestic Rate bill electronically, please register online
The Fareham Borough Council "Citizen's Account" is a new service offering citizens and businesses the facility to access up to date account information online, in a secure, convenient and accessible manner, using internet connectivity. The service will also enable users to receive future bills electronically. This facility is available for Council Tax and Business Rates accounts.
What is e-billing?
E-billing is a process of presenting your bill to you on the internet, instead of on paper. Not only does the Citizens Account make your bill more accessible, it is also interactive, allowing you to access more information, for example
- How your Council Tax/NNDR is made up
- What discount, exemption, benefits and relief's you may have been granted
- The payments you have made, and the instalments that remain for the year
- And much more
How it will work ?
Once you have registered for the Citizen's Account, you will be able to view details for all of your subscribed accounts on the internet at your convenience. If there are any changes to your account, for example if you are sent a new bill or if you have had a new discount applied, we will let you know by email or SMS message, that a change has taken place.
Will I still receive a paper bill?
At the moment, if you register for the Citizen's Account, you will still be sent a paper bill. You will be able to opt out of receiving your bill in paper format in the future, making it fully electronic.
How secure are my account details?
The Citizen's Account
incorporates a number of measures to ensure that viewing your
account details and your e-bill is secure and your personal data
is protected. The measures include
- Government standard authentication when you register for the service;
- Password protected access to your account;
- Encrypted data transmission via a secure internet connection when you log on to your Account, to ensure that your details are not accessible to any third party.
The benefits of subscribing for the Citizen's Account
- You can view details of your account whenever you choose
- You will receive your e-bill as soon as it is available
- You can download your bill in PDF (Adobe) format, or print it (if you need to)
- E-billing will help the Council to reduce its printing and postage costs
- The Council is helping to protect the environment by saving paper and issuing your bill electronically
