Hampshire Highways is responsible for maintaining the borough's road and footpath network. However, motorways and trunkroads in the Fareham borough are managed by the Highways Agency (this is an external hyperlink) and Fareham Borough Council is responsible for other services such as street cleansing and parking.
How do I get the kerb lowered outside my house?
To allow vehicle access to a driveway or garage you can apply to Hampshire County Council to have a dropped kerb. In most cases it is possible for you to pay to have a crossing.

The footpaths in my road are in a poor condition. What are you doing about this?
Footways that are in a particularly bad state of repair can be considered for reconstruction. Proposals are put forward by the local highways inspector, but assessed independently. Submissions are made in May of each year for the following financial year's work programme. There are a number of reasons why a footway may be considered for reconstruction and these could include: evidence of substantial cracking; pronounced surface irregularities; or considerable deterioration. Not every submission will be successful, but each footway will be assessed individually and allocated a rating. Footways that achieve a particularly high rating have a good chance of being rebuilt.
Further Information
There is overgrown vegetation and brambles which are dangerous along the footpath. Will you get it cut?
We can arrange for a highways inspector to visit the location and then the appropriate action is taken for it to be cut back.
Further Information
A highway gully is a drainage pit covered by an open metal grating located on the road edge, which drains rain water from the highway into the sewerage system.
Further Information
Unauthorised signs must not be placed on the public highway or attached to street furniture. Any unauthorised signs that are found on the public highway will be removed and disposed of. Offenders may be charged for the costs of removal and disposal.

How do I report a streetlight that's not working?
Prior to phoning, please check the road name and number of the streetlight - this is found on the street light column about five to six feet off the ground and facing the road.
Call 0800 50 60 60 and you will be asked to leave a message with the details of the streetlight. We need to know the town, road name, streetlight number and what's wrong with the streetlight. If you need someone to call you back about the repair then please leave your telephone number.
Normally faulty streetlights will be repaired during the next five working days (as long as the column number is given).
