This award was created for the first time this year to recognise special achievements of people living in the Borough of Fareham.
In recognition of Denise being the first female sailor to sail around the world both ways.
This category is awarded in recognition of community and voluntary service which benefits the local community. Award winners include those who have shown a long-term commitment to volunteering with a local charity, or voluntary group whose aim is to improve the quality of life for local residents.
In recognition of Elizabeth's community work including being the Leader of the Girls Brigade for over 25 years, a Deacon of Fareham Baptist Church, a pre-school Governor, a volunteer at a club for adults with learning disibilities and a Red Cross medical loan facilitator for 40 years.
In recognition of Mark's commitment to Warsash Wasps Football Club giving up his time voluntarily to ensure over 400 children benefit from high quality inexpensive football coaching and the smooth running of 24 football teams and younger development squads.
In recognition of Lorraine's extensive commitment to the Fareham Access Group. Lorraine often spent a great deal of her personal time trying to get the best possible deals for people with disabilities. (This posthumous award is being made to Lorraine who unfortunately died after being nominated).
In recognition of Michael's charity fundraising work and counselling others with disabilities. Mike travels all over the country counselling and encouraging people to cope with their disabilities despite having broken his neck in a water skiing accident about 20 years ago. He always manages to maintain a cheerful and positive approach to life.
This award is in recognition of community and voluntary service which benefits the local community. Like the Citizen of Honour Award, young people may be volunterring with a local charity or voluntary group, or providing on-going care to an individual.
In recognition of Katrina's commitment as a volunteer worker at Odyssey Young People's centre for the past four years, on a regular basis of two nights a week. Katrina is dedicated to helping young people reach their full potential and is always willing to participate and help in a kind, friendly way.
This award celebrates an outstanding act of bravery, a regular selfless act for others, or for overcoming and learning to adapt to a registered disability. Young people who are nominated for this award may be making a positive endeavour to take part in community or voluntary activities, or regularly providing care or support to a relative or friend.
In recognition of Rebecca being a young carer for her mother and helping her to look after her two younger brothers. Rebecca always remains bright and positive and thinks of others before herself. She extends her caring to her peers, often supporting members of her young carers group when they are unhappy. Rebecca continues to do well at school.
