How are foreign taxi drivers vetted? Ian Rickman, Head of Environmental Health at FBC advised that all taxi drivers are vetted. Letter of conduct provided by embassy of origin must be provided as part of vetting process. Criminal checks in this country are also carried out, as are knowledge checks. Stubbington bypass — How will Peel Common area work? There will be an entirely new southern section of Newgate Lane.
Welborne — Haven't spoken to anyone in favour of Welborne. Infrastructure plans don't seem good. What about a new hospital in the area? Lots of houses being built in Warsash and Locks Heath, and medical facilities aren't good enough. There won't be a new hospital at Welborne. Most people need GP's more than hospitals. Fareham Community Hospital is underused, and we need to work on better use of facilities we do have first. As a local planning authority, we do not have any power over medical provision. NHS are consulted on major planning applications and have a duty to make sure medical provision is provided.
If Welborne is going to go ahead, is the motorway junction going to be done first to reduce impact on local roads, particularly with lorries etc? Funding is available for the motorway junction, but it's a matter of timing. It wont be done before any homes are built, but need to remember that not all houses will be built at the same time. The build rate starts at 120 homes in the first year, and 300 per year at its peak, so it will be a gradual growth period.

Understand there is to be a pop festival soon on Peel Common Land. How can we stop it? Can write to Council by 8 June with your concerns for consideration. Licensing Committee is on 8 July.
Stubbington bypass—Where is access, and how will this work with Daedalus? There will be a number of access points into Daedalus. One near Ross House is a minor access and only a certain level of traffic will be using it. Not a primary access. Planning application for bypass is to be submitted next month. The proper junction arrangement will be in it and residents will be able to comment on it.
Gosfest—why are FBC waiving 90 days notice of event to 60 days? Its only an advisory period to get any issues sorted out, so we need to be reasonable. SAG group met today and will give their advice to the Licensing Committee on 08 July. You will know the outcome on 10 July.
