Are you committed to making a difference and support the idea of communities working together?
Fareham Community Savers is a new initiative aimed a promoting financial inclusion, safe borrowing and savings opportunities. SEHCO is working together with Fareham Borough Council, United Savings and Loans Credit Union, First Wessex and the Southern Cooperative to establish “Fareham Community Savers” – a Credit Union that will, in the first instance, serve the communities living in Fareham Park and Broadlaw Walk areas of Fareham.
We are looking for a development worker with well practiced skills in community development, group work and marketing. Supported by excellent communication skills, we want someone who can enthuse and encourage others to make a difference in the two most deprived areas of Fareham.
The post-holder will be working with local organisations, community groups and centres in two neighbourhoods initially but this may be extended to other parts of the Borough. Focus will be on encouraging local residents to join and volunteer with a Credit Union, helping people to consider their options and avoid the pitfalls of high interest rates caused by taking out high interest loans. The ability to signpost to a range of local support services is important but financial or banking skills are not required as the role does not involve giving financial advice or taking deposits.
If you are interested email create@firstwessex.org for application details or phone 023 9289 6716 during working hours. Application information will be sent by email unless you ask otherwise giving your name and postal address.
Closing Date: Friday, February 3rd
Interviews held on Monday 13th February (please keep this date clear – you will be contacted during the previous week if you are shortlisted for interview)
