Recruitment Standards

Fair Recruitment

We have a positive approach to equality and inclusion and encourage applications from all sections of the community.  We aim to ensure that every stage of our recruitment process is carried out fairly and that no applicant is discriminated against.

If you have a disability and meet the essential requirements for the post you will be guaranteed an interview.  There is a section on the application form for you to outline any particular assistance you may need to assist you with the interview process.

Standards

Our aim is that recruitment papers will be posted within 2 working days of the request.

Applicants will receive or have access to an application form, job description and person specification.  Information for applicants is available in large print and on audio tape if requested.

Applications will not be accepted after the published closing date unless there are exceptional circumstances.  No late applications will be considered after the shortlisting stage.

Applications will only be assessed against the requirements of the Person Specification.

Shortlisted applicants will receive clear details about the testing, interview and selection process and applicants with a disability will be advised to contact the recruiting department if they need any particular assistance with the selection process.

If you have not been contacted within four weeks of the published closing date you can assume your application has not been successful on this occasion.  We are sorry we cannot contact every applicant but we very much appreciate the interest you have shown in making an application.  Please do not be discouraged from re-applying for another vacancy – your skills and experience may be just what we need for our next vacancy.

Successful and unsuccessful interviewees will be contacted as soon as possible after completion of the interviews but no later than 10 working days after the last interview.

If you would like feedback on your performance at interview then you should contact the Chair of your interview panel who will be pleased to help you.

Confirmation of employment will only be made following completion of satisfactory employment checks, however, formal references will not be sought without prior permission.

A Statement of Written Particulars will be issued to you before you start work setting out the terms and conditions of your employment.
