Fareham has always been a Council committed to providing good quality services to the local community and we are proud of our achievements. We have a successful track record of responding to challenges and transforming business processes to deliver better services to our customers.
The foundation for this success has been our ability to unlock the potential of our workforce. We have employed the right people, working in the right way and within the right culture.
Over recent years, our approach to workforce development has been evolutionary. We have carefully developed skills, structures and the culture of the organisation to meet new challenges. This planned approach has enabled us to avoid instances of major upheaval where drastic cuts are required to jobs and services.
Nearly 500 people are employed across six departments located mainly in the Civic Offices in the centre of Fareham Town, the Depot at Wallington and at Ferneham Hall.
We have taken deliberate steps to create a culture which is open, inclusive and caring and we take pride when receiving feedback from others that we are a ‘friendly, professional organisation’. Our culture of encouragement and support has enabled promotional and developmental opportunities to be secured.
Achieving good quality services is made possible through employees who have the right skills and knowledge and who are developed and motivated to do their best. We believe that our employees perform at their best when they are content with their employment relationship with the authority. All employees should feel that they are treated fairly, appreciated, supported, consulted and respected.
I hope you will feel that you would like to join us and take pride in serving our local community.
