Fareham Leisure Centre, which is currently undergoing a £1.5 million modernisation project, has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award.
The Centre is among the finalists for 'Leisure Centre of the Year Multi-use' in the coveted ukactive and Matrix Flames Awards 2014. The awards, which will take place at this year's Flame Conference and Ball of Fire on 2nd July, recognise leisure centres, health clubs, group operators and individuals that have demonstrated exceptional standards.
Fareham Leisure Centre, which is operated by Everyone Active also won the much coveted award in 2011 and 2013. They hope to retain their title for another year.
Executive Member for Leisure at Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Connie Hockley, said: "I'm delighted to see Fareham Leisure Centre has been nominated for this award. The competition is always very tough so to be shortlisted is recognition of the hard work of their staff. Fareham is the reigning UK leisure Centre of the year and I'll be crossing my fingers that they'll be adding to this success on July 2nd".
Everyone Active contract manager Ian Cook, added: "It's a testament to our fantastic colleagues and members that we have been nominated for this award for a third time. Fareham Leisure Centre is an extremely popular facility at the heart of the local community and we hope to bring this award home for another year on 2nd July."
