Press Release

Friday 29th November 2013

Make a pledge to recycle your unwanted clothes and shoes

Fareham Borough Council's Executive member for Streetscene, Councillor Leslie Keeble will be in Fareham Shopping Centre on Monday 2nd December to answer your questions about clothing and textile recycling and the benefits it brings to the local community. The event takes place at the Council Connect stand (opposite the Body Shop) between 10am - 2pm.

Councillor Keeble along with Streetscene's Director, Paul Doran will be there to answer your questions about what you can and can't put in your recycling bin at home and where you can recycle other items. They will also be letting people know what Fareham Borough Council does with the items you recycle and highlighting the benefits to not only the environment but also to the community.

Councillor Keeble said "Clothing and textiles are nearly 100 percent recyclable, all items from blue textile banks can be re-used even those in poor condition can be recycled to produce new materials such as insulation. We donate to many local community projects and charities using proceeds from the blue banks so the more clothing and textiles we collect, the more we can donate".
