Changes to Council Tax Support

From the 1 April 2014 there will be some changes to how Fareham Borough Council helps  those people on a low income pay their Council Tax. 

Residents took part in a consultation in 2012 and helped the Council decide how best to provide Council Tax Support.

Following more consultation in 2013, the Council has put together the final Council Tax Support Scheme. The final scheme will ensure that:

The scheme will also mean that payments of Council Tax may be spread over 12 months, rather than 10 months.

Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Seán Woodward said: "The residents of Fareham helped us decide how best to support those on a low income pay their Council Tax. The final scheme continues to protect the most vulnerable claimants, whilst also encouraging people into the workplace."
