On 1st June hundreds of communities around the country will be holding street parties as part of the Big Lunch and Fareham Borough Council would like yours to be one of them.
Since 2009, on the first Sunday in June, millions of people have been enjoying the pleasure of sharing good food and company with those living nearest to them by organising anything from small garden gatherings to traffic stopping street parties.
To make participation as widespread as possible Fareham Borough Council is offering advice on how to organise an event of any size and streamlining the process for anyone interested applying to hold a street party or hosting a Big Lunch event using a public space.
Executive member for Leisure and Community, Cllr Connie Hockley, has said of the event "The idea of sitting down with your own neighbours in your own street is a lovely idea and one we look forward to promoting. Not all street parties will need to submit an application to hold a small event and for those that do we intend to make the process as straightforward as possible."
Fareham Borough recommend that anyone interested in organising an event as part of the Big Lunch visit www.fareham.gov.uk/biglunch for more information.
