Fareham Council and local charity, Y services have organised a series of free activities across the Borough to help keep boredom at bay throughout the summer holidays.
The sessions which are aimed at under 12's, are accessible to all local residents. No booking is necessary, just turn up and join in the free fun and games with our yellow shirted Play Rangers.
The locations and themes are different each week. The full five week timetable can be downloaded at www.fareham.gov.uk. Next week (Monday 28 July – Friday 1 August) children can look forward to:
10.00 – 12.00 Outside Portchester Community Centre
13.30 – 15.30 Outside Fareham Leisure Centre
11.00 – 13.00 Outside Genesis Youth Centre, Locks Heath
Friday 10.00 – 12.00 Bishopsfield Road, across from Broadlaw Common
13.30 – 15.30 Green space at Ocean Close, Stowe Estate Fareham North West
Next Tuesday also sees the first of our free Mini Play Festivals. These will be running in addition to the normal Play Rangers' events. Tuesday's festival will include a bouncy castle, obstacle course, the chance to make a huge pirate ship and pirate and fairy themed crafts! It will be held outside Genesis Young Peoples Centre, Locks Heath between 11.00 – 13.00pm
Executive member of Leisure and Community, Councillor Connie Hockley has said "Outdoor play is just what young people need to keep them busy and active during the summer holidays. Children get the chance to socialise, be creative, and take part in group activities which focus on enjoying our great outdoors."
All sessions are subject to weather conditions, but we do try and play in all weathers. In the unlikely event that a session is cancelled, a notice will be placed near the session venue. Children under 8 years old must be supervised by their parent, carer or a responsible adult, please note parents remain responsible for their children (regardless of age) at all times.
