The Rainbow Centre no longer have to worry about expensive heating bills and cold rooms after receiving £3,000 from Fareham's Community Fund to spend on a new boiler and repairs to their heating system.
The old boiler at the centre had been in such poor condition they were without hot water. This meant the underfloor heating could not function properly and room temperatures could not be maintained at the correct level.
In the last 12 months, the boiler had broken down several times, amounting to considerable repair costs.
Community Action Team Chairman for Fareham South, Councillor Trevor Howard said: 'I'm really pleased we were able to help out with funding before the winter arrived. The Rainbow Centre does a lot for local children and definitely deserves this community funding.'
Any resident or organisation based in the Borough can apply to the Community Fund for up to £4,999 to pay for one off purchases that benefit the local community or environment. To find out more contact your local CAT Officer on 01329 236100, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
