Press Release

10 June 2015

The Big Clean Up is Back! The Big Clean Up volunteers

Councillor Leslie Keeble joined pupils from Henry Cort Community College and Brookfield Community School, Skill Force, Carillion and Fareham Borough Council as part of Fareham's Big Clean Up campaign earlier this month.

Meeting on June 4 at the open space alongside Fort Fareham Road, volunteers grabbed their bags and litter pickers and tidied up around Jubilee Court; entrance to Fort Fareham industrial Estate, Fort Fareham Estate and parking areas and footpaths.

Fuelled by water and doughnuts kindly supplied by Sainsbury's, and spurred on by the many residents who came out of their houses to thank them for doing a 'grand job', the clean-up started at 9.45am and finished at 1.40pm with sweeping, clearance of litter and removal of weeds and detritus.

Cllr Tiffany Harper, Executive Member for Streetscene, says: "Response to The Big Clean Up campaign has been incredible. It is fantastic to see so many people getting involved to help keep Fareham tidy."

As part of the Keep Britain Tidy campaign, 'Love where you live', community members around the country are invited to help rid their neighbourhood of rubbish.
