All general waste and recycling vehicles have gone out this morning. It is planned that bins from properties on main roads will be collected first, then estate and side roads later to allow the snow time to thaw.
If any roads are not accessible for the Council’s vehicles, revised collection details will be posted on this website later today.
A short "topping out" ceremony took place today (3 December) for the new multi million pound Holly Hill Leisure Centre.
Six months after the start of construction, the steel frame for the building is in place which shows the energetic form of this innovative building.
Councillor Trevor Cartwright, Chairman of the working group for Holly Hill said, "There has been excellent progress made so far with the Leisure Centre project and today marks another significant step on the road to completion."
Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Councillor Sue Bell added, "This exciting project remains on target to open to the public in the summer of 2016 and I look forward to welcoming local residents to the excellent facilities that will be on offer."
The facilities will benefit from two new junior football pitches, a children's play area and a multi-use games area for people to enjoy on site. The Council's Countryside Service and volunteers are managing the different natural habitats surrounding the centre.
Phil Samson, Project Manager for Balfour Beatty said, "This is both an exciting and challenging project to work on and will be a real pleasure to hand over for the benefit of all the community."
Ian Cook, Area Contract Manager for Everyone Active who will operate Holly Hill, said, "Everyone Active looks forward to operating what will be a brilliant and much needed new Leisure Centre in the western wards of Fareham."
