Work on the new multi million pound Holly Hill Leisure Centre, located in Sarisbury Green, is progressing well and is on track to open in summer 2016.
The roof covering is now in place, the external cladding is being installed and internal works are on-going.
Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Cllr Sue Bell, said: "It's great to see the new leisure centre coming together and everyone is working extremely hard to complete the project."
Chairman of the Holly Hill Leisure Centre Working Group, Cllr Trevor Cartwright said: "Progress on the building is coming along well and the cladding looks impressive. I look forward to seeing the completed project."
Ian Cook, Everyone Active Area Contract Manager said: "We are looking forward to welcoming the community to the new Holly Hill Leisure Centre in the summer. As well as having some fantastic facilities at the centre, the gym will be complete with state-of-the-art Technogym equipment as well as specialist items such as Watt Bikes, a functional training rig and Power Plate machines. Everyone Active will also host over 60 classes per week, in addition to swimming lessons for all ages. The centre will offer something for everyone of all ages and abilities and we hope the community will take the opportunity to come and see what the new centre has to offer and try something new."
There will also be two new junior football pitches, a children's play area and a multi-use games area for people to enjoy on site. The Council's Countryside Service and volunteers are managing the different natural habitats surrounding the centre.
Once the building work is complete, it will be handed over to Everyone Active, who will manage the leisure centre on the Council's behalf. They will then install the gym equipment, lane markers, and starting blocks for the main swimming pool, prior to the centre be opened to the public.
