Council leader thanks local postmen and women as they deliver First Class Christmas

Leader of Fareham Borough Council Cllr Seán Woodward visited Palmerston Road Post Office Delivery Office this morning, 22 December.  The aim was to see at first-hand the operation of delivering Christmas post and to pass on season's greetings to its hardworking staff.

Cllr Woodward was shown around the office by Delivery Office Manager Kevin Webb and introduced to the postmen and women who are pulling out all the stops to sort and deliver mail in the Fareham area over the Christmas period.  There are 142 staff altogether and 94 post rounds.

One valued member of the team is Peter Hopwood who has been a postman for almost 50 years and is Palmerston Road's longest serving member of staff.

Cllr Woodward said: "At no other time is the hard work and dedication of postmen and women clearer than during the festive period.

"I would like to thank them for the extraordinary lengths they go to, to ensure Christmas cards and presents are delivered to loved ones on time, particularly throughout this very busy period."
