Fareham celebrates National Play Day with Sports Fest

Join Fareham Play Rangers as they celebrate National Play Week with free mini play festivals for under 12's, starting on Monday and culminating in a sport themed festival on Wednesday 6th as part of National Play Day.

Fareham's Play Rangers are an outdoor play initiative funded by Fareham Borough Council and operated by a local youth work charity, Y Services. The Play Rangers tour parks and open spaces across the borough to bring free outdoor play opportunities to hundreds of children during the school holidays.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Councillor Connie Hockley has said:

"because play is such a significant part of children's lives, helping them develop both socially and physically, we decided to celebrate National Play Day week with a variety of free events at different locations to make it accessible to as many children as possible."

You can find the Play Rangers at the following locations next week (Monday 4th – Wednesday 6th)

Monday - 11am to 3pm Castle Street, by the Play Area, Portchester

Medieval Mayhem: Merlin's bouncy castle, make and race your own hobby-horse, a huge group castle making activity

Tuesday - 11am to 3pm Play Area at Salterns Promenade, Hill Head                 Beach Party: Bouncy Castle, beach combing with our Countryside Rangers, natural collages and sunshine biscuit decorating

Wednesday - 11am to 3pm NATIONAL PLAY DAY - Outside Fareham North West Community Centre

Super Sports Day: Giant skipping, hula-hooping, crazy golf, footie skills, medal-making and sports day races, plus free entry to the Jungle Buddies Play Bus and free snacks for children courtesy of Sainsbury

All events are free to Fareham Borough Residents. No booking is necessary so families can just turn up and join in at any time. Whilst expert supervision is on hand through Y-Services, children under 8 years old must be accompanied by their parent/adult carer.  Regardless of age, children remain the responsibility of their parents at all times.
