To mark this year's Armed Forces Day on Saturday 25 June, Fareham will be raising the Armed Forces Flag at 10.30am on Monday 20 June, along with other councils across the country. The flag will be raised in West Street, close to the podium, by two service personnel from HMS Collingwood.
The flag raising event in Fareham will begin with a procession led by the three platoons of serving personnel from the Royal Navy; Army and Royal Air Force. They will be followed by the civic party, led by the Mayor of Fareham, Councillor Trevor Cartwright. The procession will make its way from Market Quay car park, through the Falklands Arch to the flag poles in West Street.
The Mayor of Fareham will address the procession and members of the public who have gathered to watch the event. This will be followed by the raising of the Armed Forces Flag at 10.30am.
The Mayor of Fareham, Councillor Trevor Cartwright, said: "I am very proud to be leading the civic party at the Armed Forces flag raising event for Fareham, in recognition of the outstanding contribution made by all of our Armed Forces - past, present and future; and in particular, HMS Collingwood who are based here in the Borough. I do hope that members of the public will take time out of their busy lives to join us at this event."
