The winners of the Fareham in Bloom community gardening competition will be announced on Thursday 15 September from 7.30pm and the best local horticulturalists will receive their awards at a special presentation evening being held at Ferneham Hall. There are 21 categories that have been judged with each entry being graded on their individual merit with awards from Bronze, Silver, Silver Gilt and Gold to be presented to the winners at the presentation evening.
Fareham in Bloom is a community gardening campaign for residents within the Borough that attracts hundreds of entries and has done so for the past 16 years. The competition gives an opportunity for Fareham Borough Council to acknowledge the dedication, time and hard work that the residents have put into their gardens contributing to the borough's visual amenity and beauty. Regional awards for the South and Southeast in Bloom will also be presented during the evening.
Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Councillor Connie Hockley, said: “This presentation is a great way for Fareham Borough Council to show its gratitude and acknowledgement to this year's great entries. They have all put in their own time and effort in to maintaining and creating such beautiful and visually pleasing gardens within our borough".
The Winners of the Fareham in Bloom Children's Art competition sponsored by Fareham Shopping Centre are Carenza Chisnell, aged 5, Beth Saunders, aged 7, and Steven Cross, aged 10. Each have been awarded a hamper full of arts and crafts goodies from The Works and will attend the presentation evening to receive their certificates.
