Waste and Recycling Visits

If you ever wanted to know how your recycling is sorted, or how your refuse is turned into energy, here is your chance to find out! Veolia is hosting a series of open days in the next two months. The Energy Recovery Facilities and the recycling sorting plant (Materials Recovery Facility) will be open.

The event is designed to show how an energy-from-waste facility works and turns waste into a resource.
During the day visitors can experience:
• A behind-the-scenes tour of the facility
• A visit to the control room
• Educational games for younger visitors

Executive Member for Streetscene, Councillor Leslie Keeble, said "this is an excellent opportunity for local residents to see just what happens to our waste and how it is recycled or turned into energy."

Open days are scheduled for the following dates:
Portsmouth Energy Recovery Facility - Tuesday 20 September
Marchwood Energy Recovery Facility - Thursday 22 September
Chineham Energy Recovery Facility - Saturday 1 October
Little Bushywarren composting facility - Tuesday 25 October
Alton Materials Recovery Facility (sorts recycling to send on for re-processing) - Thursday 27 October

Please note, attendance must be pre-booked in advance by emailing HampshireEnquiries@veolia.co.uk or call 01962 764083.
