On Sunday 3 June 2012, from 12.00 - 4.00pm Fareham Borough Council in partnership with AFC Portchester are hosting a special Diamond Jubilee Celebration 'The Big Jubilee Lunch’.
The event will be held on Wicor Recreation Ground, Cranleigh Road, Portchester. The celebrations will be for both the Queens Diamond Jubilee, and for Wicor Recreation Ground being secured as a Queen Elizabeth II Playing Field as part of the Fields in Trust Challenge.
This special event will provide the ideal setting for families to participate in ‘The Big Jubilee Lunch’ celebrations with a picnic or alternatively refreshments will be available at the event.
At 1.00pm a special dedication and plaque unveiling will be made by Cllr Miss Bell, Chairman of the Leisure and Community Policy Development and Review Panel, to celebrate Wicor Recreation Grounds new status as a permanently protected QEII Playing Field.
Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Councillor Connie Hockley said, “The big Jubilee lunch will be a wonderful event for friends and families to come together and celebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee”.
To make this day even more enjoyable, a range of activities will also be available, including live music, bouncy castles, face painting, the Fareham Play Ranger Zone which includes making Jubilee souvenirs craft activities, inclusive sports equipment and soft play, tug of war, egg and spoon races, along with traditional games, beat the goalie, stocks and much more for children young people and families to enjoy.
