Senior sportspeople are aiming to go faster, higher, stronger at the annual REACT Games taking place at Wellington Health and Fitness Club on Monday 3 September. Sports clubs for people aged 50 plus will come from all over the South of England to compete at the annual REACT Games, taking part in different sports including badminton, bowls, table tennis, swimming and short tennis.
Fareham Leisure Centre is sending 16 members of its 50 plus club to compete at this year's competition in badminton, short tennis and table tennis. At last year's Games, Fareham Members brought home a Gold Medal in the over 65's Table Tennis, and a Silver Medal in the over 50's Table Tennis. The badminton team also narrowly missed out on a Bronze medal.
Executive Member of Leisure and Community Councillor Mrs Connie Hockley said: " I am delighted that we have such a passionate 50 plus club that continues to set the example for participation in sport at Fareham Leisure Centre and I wish them every success in the competition and hope they have a very enjoyable day."
The event will run from 8:30am - 5:00pm starting with registration through to the presentations of the medals and trophies.
Sports and Leisure Management Ltd pay the affiliation, entry costs and donate a prize for the raffle, and this year they have also arranged T-shirts for the team.
