Local young artists commissioned to design car park wall mural

Fareham Borough Council commissioned art students at Fareham College to design a mural for the Fareham Shopping Centre multi-storey car park with the winning artist recently announced in a special ceremony.

In September the college were commissioned to design a mural for the Fareham Shopping Centre multi-storey car park. The college incorporated the artwork into the student’s curriculum and a number of designs were produced.

On Friday 23 September the students along with their lecturers visited the Mayor's parlour where a presentation by the Mayor of Fareham Cllr Dennis Steadman and the Executive Leader Cllr Seán Woodward revealed the winning design by Naomi Nixon.

Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Councillor Seán Woodward, said:" The artwork produced by all the students was of such a high standard it was really difficult to choose a winner, however Naomi’s design shone through and I’m really looking forward to seeing the completed mural on the wall of the Fareham Shopping Centre multi-storey car park."

Painting and decorating level 2 students together with staff members Ron Breeze and Paul Harris from Fareham College will paint the mural onto the Fareham Shopping Centre multi-storey car park wall in the New Year.
