A new Tchoukball Club is underway after a £2,562.44 grant from Fareham Borough Council's Community Funding Programme.
The new club, based at Neville Lovett School, is part of Fareham Tchoukball Club who have been developing the sport in Fareham and Portsmouth for all ages from 14 years and up. They play in the Southern Region Tchoukball League and are looking at entering the National League next season.
The new club intended to attract more young people to take-up the sport. Since it started young membership has grown and a new youth team has been formed which is already taking part in tournaments and matches.
Executive Leader for Fareham Borough Council, Councillor Seán Woodward said that "Tchoukball is becoming increasingly popular, money provided by the Community Fund will pay for the purchase of equipment and kits that will create new sporting opportunities for all ages in the community".
The Community Fund is available to support projects that benefit the local community or environment within the Borough of Fareham. Any resident, or organisation based in the Borough can apply for money for one off purchases from the Community Fund.
