South and South East in Bloom Judging Day

Judges from South and South East in Bloom enjoyed a tour of Fareham today as part of the judging for this year's awards.

The judges, Barry Newman and Linda Jones, spent 3 hours looking at some of the best parks, countryside and horticultural projects that Fareham has to offer.

They then went on to a garden party hosted by Bridget and Geoff Thickett, who have been part of the voluntary In Bloom team for many years. They provided afternoon tea in their beautiful garden, where the judges had the opportunity to meet the officers and volunteers who have contributed to putting Fareham on the map for its horticultural excellence.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Councillor Connie Hockley said: "Our Borough always looks beautiful and this is down to the hard work of our dedicated officers and Fareham In Bloom Coordinators and volunteers, who work throughout the year to get Fareham looking first class. I would like to say a huge thank you to all of those involved, the Borough was presented superbly and I hope that the judges have enjoyed their time in Fareham."

Fareham has a renowned reputation having won Gold for the last 9 years, and are hoping to get the highest accolade for the 10th year running.
