Over 500 people turned out for a great day in the sun at the Fareham Park Fun Day on Saturday, with more than 300 local people voting for their favourite projects, aimed at improving the Fareham Park area.
A bouncy castle, fair-ground rides, face-painting, reptiles, activities for young people, dancing and martial art, Choi Kwang Do were just a few of the fun activities on offer. Many of the organisations that applied to the Fareham Park Purse Grant also hosted their own stalls to help people decide which projects should receive some of the £17,500 made available to local groups.
The winning projects as voted for by local people include:
Executive Member for Leisure and Community Councillor Connie Hockley said: "We received some fantastic applications for this funding – and I'm delighted that residents have now chosen which ones they want to see happen. We wanted to give people the ability to decide for themselves what would make a difference to the Fareham Park area. I can't wait to see these projects come to fruition in the next few months."
The Fareham Park Purse was funded through the 'Have your Say' grant, made available by Hampshire County Council to allow local communities to have more say on how public money is spent.
