Press Release

Friday 09 August 2013

Children continue to have fun with Fareham Play Rangers

Over the last two weeks 5-12 year olds across Fareham have been taking part in free outdoor activities with the Play Rangers and it's safe to say they've been loving it!   The themed activities, organised by Fareham Borough Council in partnership with Y Services for Young People (a local youth work charity), continue to help local parents and children answer the question 'so what are we going to do today?' with more fun activities taking place next week across the following locations;

Monday, 10am – 12noon at Bellfield Play Area, Titchfield. Theme: Pirates & Fairies

Tuesday, 10am – 12noon at Ocean Close, Stowe Estate, Fareham. Theme: Den Making & Wild Play /  2pm – 4pm at Bishopsfield Road (opposite Broadlaw Walk) Fareham, Theme: Mardi Gras

Wednesday, 10am – 12noon at Kenwood Road (open space at the bottom), Portchester. Theme: Nature Play

Thursday, 2pm – 4pm at Hollybrook Gardens, Locks Heath. Theme: Backyard Beach

Friday, 10am – 12noon at Tanners Gate, Elsanta Crescent, (near the big tree next to the play area), Titchfield Common. Theme: Pirates & Fairies

Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Councillor Connie Hockley, said: "One of the highlights so far has been the involvement of coaches from Forton Footy Project, the children have been thrilled to receive feedback and tips to improve their game. Parachute play has been popular, encouraging parents to join in too. The sessions are free and no booking is necessary so whether children want to play for half an hour or two, they can arrive at any time during a session and start taking part."

Although expert supervision is on hand through Y-Services, children under 8 years old must be accompanied by their parent/adult carer and parents of all age groups remain responsible for their children at all times. For more details and precise locations please visit www.fareham.gov.uk
