Fareham Borough Council has awarded £4,999 in Community Funding to Military Mentors to purchase new equipment that will help them improve the services they offer young people in Fareham.
Thanks to the Community Fund, Military Mentors can purchase tents, protective clothing and other army style equipment, materials to erect a bike shelter, and litter picking equipment which will be used for community cleaning projects.
Military Mentors is an organisation providing recreational activities for 14-19 year olds delivered by ex-forces servicemen and women. The activities are designed to teach values which will fast-track participants to achieve their identified goals, whether these are orientated towards entering the forces, succeeding in business or any other discipline. They also focus on physical fitness providing access to gym facilities and personal training at their grounds in (lower) Bath Lane, Fareham.
Executive Leader for Fareham Borough Council, Councillor Seán Woodward said "The Community Fund has enabled the organisation to purchase new equipment that will help improve its programmes for young people wishing to develop their fitness levels, team building and leadership skills".
The Community Fund is available to support projects that benefit the local community or environment within the Borough of Fareham. Any resident, or organisation based in the Borough can apply for money for one off capital funds from the Community Fund.
