Fareham Borough Council is asking residents to have their say on how best to provide Council Tax Support in a consultation running until Friday 4 October 2013.
Last year, the Council asked residents what they thought about the changes to Council Tax Benefit and how working age claimants should be supported. Using the feedback received, the Council developed a Council Tax Support Scheme, which was put in place from 1 April 2013 and will run until 31 March 2014. The Council is now looking at how best to support people from 1 April 2014 and would like to hear residents' views.
Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Councillor Seán Woodward said: "The scheme we are proposing is very similar to last year. The government are giving us even less money this year to provide Council Tax support, which means the Council has some difficult decisions to make. I would encourage as many people as possible to have their say on the proposed scheme so the Council can make these decisions."
Residents can find out more and have their say on the proposed Council Tax Support scheme at www.fareham.gov.uk/consultations . You can have a paper copy of the consultation by calling 01329 236 100 or by visiting the Civic Offices.
