Hampshire County Council are carrying out work to improve Newgate Lane congestion. The work will be done in 3 stages and will continue through the summer of 2015.
The County Council's contractors Dyer and Butler Ltd will be working on the improvements until the summer of 2015.
The contractor will keep as much as possible of the existing road open during the working day (6am to 7pm) over seven days a week. Work needing traffic lane closures using traffic lights, will be done at night (7pm to 6am), wherever possible.
A temporary 30mph speed limit will apply over the length of the scheme during the works.

Electronic message signs will be placed on the approaches to Newgate Lane (A32 Gosport Road and B3385 Broom Way) to provide advance warning of any unexpected events that may impact on traffic.
To ease congestion and improve journey time reliability on one of the main routes to and from the Gosport peninsula and the Solent Enterprise Zone at Deadalus. It will also improve access for pedestrians and cyclists.
On Newgate Lane between Longfield Avenue and Tanners Lane.
