What can I put in my recycling bin?

Householders have a blue-top bin for recyclables, emptied every fortnight.

You must use it for:

Sorting your recycling. Please put everything loose in the recycling bin- no carrier bags or bin liners. The sorting plant cannot open bags so they are thrown away unopened. (Photo courtesy of Veolia Environmental Services)

Yellow Pages can be put in your blue top bin but not shredded paper.

Glass must not be put in blue top bins. There are recycling banks around the Borough for all glass jars and bottles and for textiles.

There are also banks for books, CDs and videos or you can take these to a charity shop.
