Following submission of the Welborne Plan to the Planning Inspectorate, Fareham Borough Council is consulting until Wednesday 6 August on a suggested change to the Plan, showing an alternative location for the secondary school.
The submitted Welborne Plan contains a proposal for a secondary school on the Borough boundary, with the school planning fields lying in the Winchester City Council area on land to the south of Knowle.
The proposed alternative secondary school location is next to the new district centre. This new location does not replace the existing proposal to the west of the site, but allocates an additional location in order to provide greater flexibility in the Plan.
Executive Member for Planning and Development, Councillor Keith Evans said: "During the representations period on the Publication Welborne Plan we received a number of objections against the proposed location of the secondary school and the use of land to the south of Knowle for playing fields. We have taken these objections into account and decided to incorporate an alternative location for the secondary school, which is the subject of this consultation."
The Borough Council is consulting on this issue only and any representations made on other issues will not be recorded. As with the previous representation period, all representations made on the issue of the location of the secondary school, will be forwarded to the Planning Inspectorate to be considered as part of the Examination into the Welborne Plan.
The representation period will be for a total of six-weeks from Wednesday 25 June 2014 until 5pm, Wednesday 6 August. To view the consultation material and to make a representation on this Suggested Change, please visit the Council's website at www.fareham.gov.uk/consultations.
