As part of Fareham Borough Council's vision to improve the leisure facilities at Park Lane Recreation Ground, a new skate park is being built.
The facility, next to Fareham Leisure Centre, is extremely popular amongst skate boarders and BMX riders, but they are often telling the Council they would like something more challenging.
To make sure the new skate park will be well used by various ages and abilities, officers have been working closely with a group of local skaters and BMW riders (Park Lane Skate Park Working Group). Thanks to the work of that group, we now have two final design proposals showing how the skate park could look. We would like local residents to get involved and vote for their preferred design.
The designs can be viewed online by visiting www.fareham.gov.uk/parklanevision or by coming along to a special consultation event on Saturday 14 June at Fareham Leisure Centre from 11.00-2.00pm. Here there will be the opportunity to meet representatives from Freestyle SkateParks.
Alternatively you can visit Fareham Borough Council's Facebook page and 'like' your favourite skate park design. Voting closes on Friday 20 June.
Executive Member for Leisure, Cllr Connie Hockley, said: 'It was important to us to consult with skaters themselves when we designed the new skate park and we're confident we have two good options. Now I'd encourage people to get involved and help us to choose which one is carried forward.'
Improvement works are due to start in September and are expected to take around 6 weeks (weather dependant).
