Park Lane play area will receive a complete refurbishment in time for the summer holidays. The improvements will cost £75,000 and are being paid for out of developer contributions.
Drawing from feedback from the school councils of Harrison Primary and Uplands Infant School, suggestions included that the play area should be fenced; be more suitable for different ages and abilities and have a large grassy picnic area.
Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Cllr Connie Hockley said: "Everyone is really excited that there will be a new play area being built in Park Lane, and it's great that local school children helped us in designing it. I'm sure everyone is looking forward to the opening!"
Improvement works will be taking place throughout May and while these works are taking place, the current play area will still be available to use. The new play area is due to open in June.
