Fareham Borough Council has received amendments to the planning application submitted last year from Persimmon Homes South Coast to develop the land north of Cranleigh Road and west of Wicor Primary School in Portchester.
The original application was submitted in March 2015, but put on hold following the Council's request for the applicants to assess the likely environmental effects of the proposed development and submit an Environmental Statement.
The Environmental Statement has now been submitted along with amendments to the outline planning application. The application now proposes to build up to 120 homes compared to 135 as originally submitted, with access from Cranleigh Road, along with public open space and a play area.
Councillor Nick Walker, Chairman of the Planning Committee, said: "From the comments received previously from the local community, this Council is aware of the strong local feelings against building houses upon this area of countryside which is not allocated for new housing. Before the Council makes any decisions on the planning application, we will have to consider a number of planning issues including the newly submitted Environmental Statement before making a decision on the application. I would advise anyone interested in the planning application to look at the information on the Council's website and comment on the proposed plans before 29 January. Any comments submitted about the original application last year will still be considered."
You can view the application by visiting the Fareham Borough Council website at www.fareham.gov.uk/planning and using the reference number P/15/0260/OA. You may also view the amended application by visiting the Civic Offices between 8.45am and 5.15pm Monday to Thursday and between 8.45am and 4.45pm on Fridays. All comments need to be received by 10 February 2016; please note they will be made available on the Council's website for the public to view them, and only your name and address will be displayed.
If you have any questions about the planning application you can contact the Department of Planning and Development on 01329 236100 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
Notes to editor:
The current Local Plan identifies the site as outside the defined settlement boundary.
The site is not allocated for housing development in the Council's Development Sites and Policies Plan (DSP).
