Fareham Borough Council has started work that will inform a vision for the future of the Town Centre.
We want to strengthen the Town Centre and the vision will aim to both encourage a range of shops, restaurants, cafes and leisure venues to meet the needs of a modern community, and to foster an evening economy. We will also need to consider possible options for housing in the centre.
An important part of this work is understanding how the Town Centre is being used at the moment. One of the first areas we will consider is existing car parking arrangements as clearly it is important to understand current level of demand for parking across the Town Centre throughout the week.
Council Officers will carry out the survey during the summer, to identify parking patterns of those using the car park. They will not collect any information that can be used to identify individual cars or owners when doing the work.
Executive Member for Planning and Regulation, Cllr Keith Evans said: "Understanding the needs of car park's users in the Town Centre will allow us to ensure that we continue to provide adequate parking provision as part of our vision for the future of the town centre."
The Council intend to consult on a draft vision for the future of the Town Centre in the autumn. For further information, please visit: www.fareham.gov.uk/consultations.
