To start the countdown to the London 2012 Olympic Games, Fareham is hosting a free outdoor event on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 July - 365 days before London 2012 begins. 'Tour of the Town' organised by Fareham Borough Council in partnership with Fareham Leisure Centre, Ferneham Hall, Westbury Manor Museum, and Fareham and Crofton Cricket Club, is a weekend event open to everyone, making it an ideal family fun day out.
Tour of the Town is an opportunity for friends and family to walk to the various 'stamp' points in and around the town centre, where special activities will be taking place and local Olympic sporting personalities past and present will be in attendance.
When the public visit each site they will get a 'Tour of the Town' card stamped to prove they've been there and once all four stamps from the four locations are collected, the card should be handed in and will be entered into a free prize draw with the chance of winning:
Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Councillor Connie Hockley said: "With the London 2012 Olympic Games only a year away, our Tour of the Town weekend is an excellent opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to join together in celebrating the start of the Olympic count down, whilst getting some fresh air and having some fun. You don't have to be an Olympic standard athlete to take part! Activities are aimed at all and not just with sporting connections, 'Tour of the Town' is about community fun."
