On Sunday 5 February the Mayor of Fareham, Councillor Trevor Cartwright MBE, will be holding a Swimathon, at The Spirit Health Club at the Holiday Inn, Titchfield, Fareham. All money raised will go to the Mayor's three chosen charities: Toe in the Water, Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Warsash Wasps SFC.
The Mayor of Fareham, Councillor Trevor Cartwright MBE said: "The aim of the Swimathon is for those taking part to swim at least 34 miles between them, the equivalent of swimming around the boundary of Fareham, to raise money for three very worthy causes. The Swimathon suits all levels of fitness, ability and age, and people can choose to swim on their own or as part of a team."
The Spirit Health Club has kindly donated their 15m x 8m pool to the Swimathon, between noon and 5pm on Sunday 5 February. Anyone who pledges their lengths will be allocated a time slot for the start of their swim. Anyone who can't take part on the day can still pledge their lengths and complete the swim in a pool of their choice.
The first 20 swimmers that sign up for the Swimathon will receive a free day pass for use at the Spirit Health Club. On 5 February the Holiday Inn will have lots of special offers available to swimmers and their supporters.
To take part in the event and to pledge lengths residents will need to complete an entry form on www.fareham.gov.uk/mayor. If people want to enter as a group each member must complete an entry form.
