On Thursday 5 July there will be a workshop at Fareham Borough Council Civic Offices to give the older generation the opportunity to learn about appropriate exercises to help prevent falls.
Better Balance For Life is a county wide project using appropriate exercises to help prevent falls within older people. There are now 2 sets of exercising following the launch of Better Balance For Life 2, on Friday 16 March.
The workshop, which will take place from 11am - 3pm, will provide simple instructions on the Better Balance For life exercises, as well as guidance on preventing falls and motivation and goal setting with older people. The course is free to groups working with older people in the Hampshire County Council area including voluntary, charitable and community groups, sheltered housing and extra care schemes.
Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Councillor Connie Hockley said: "This is a good opportunity for the older generation to pick up tips on how to prevent falls and will increase their understanding of the value of exercise for their general health and wellbeing."
Each organisation attending will receive their own training pack which includes exercise leaflets, DVD's of the exercises and a CD of appropriate music.
