Fareham Borough Council and Gosport Borough Council have granted Business Rate Relief worth £82,809.54 to Britten-Norman, an aviation company operating in the Solent Enterprise Zone at Daedalus.
The business rate rebate scheme, gives businesses already located in the Enterprise Zone or moving into the Zone between 1 April 2012 and 31 March 2015 significant reductions on business rates of up to £275,000 over five years.
Cllr Seán Woodward, Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, commented, "I’m very pleased that Britten-Norman have taken up the business rate relief. It is estimated that 3,500 jobs will be created within the Zone by 2026, which will help to turn the area into a destination of choice for businesses within the marine, aerospace and aviation sectors”.
Cllr Mark Hook, Leader of Gosport Borough Council, said “I'm delighted to see that businesses which are located in the Enterprise Zone are now benefitting from the new Business Rate Relief made available.”
"The savings made will enable them to invest in and possibly expand their businesses further, providing jobs and security for local people. We hope that many other businesses take advantage of the scheme."
William Hynett, Britten-Norman’s Chief Executive, commented: “Britten-Norman is proud to be so centrally involved in the regeneration of the Daedalus site and we are extremely grateful to Fareham and Gosport Councils for granting this Business Rate Relief.
