Improvement works to the footpath on the North Side of West Street, between Aldi and the A27 Station Road in Fareham will start on Monday 4 March and are expected to last until Monday 10 June.
Following consultations during 2012, it was decided that the improvements to the North Side of West Street will include renewing the paving and kerbs, widening the footpath in the bus shelter area and a new seat near the bus shelter.
The first section of works will start between Aldi and Grove Road. It is expected that these will be completed at the beginning of May. The works will then move to the section of footway between Grove Road and the A27 Station Road with completion due in mid-June.
Temporary traffic lights will be in place from 0930 – 1600 Monday to Friday during the improvement works. Pedestrians will be able to use to the south side footway. The Gillies car park located on the south side of West Street will be used by the contractor, Hope and Clay and will be closed to the public during the works.
Executive Member for Strategic Planning and Environment Councillor Keith Evans said: "Fareham Borough Council is working in partnership with the contractors Hope and Clay to ensure that the work is completed as quickly as possible and with minimum disruption."
For any enquiries relating to the improvement work please call Hope and Clay on 01635 268502.
