From the beginning of this month several changes to parking, aimed at supporting local shops and businesses, have come into effect in Fareham Town Centre.
No charges have increased, some have decreased and the time restriction on all of our car parks has been lifted.
The changes are as follows:
Deputy Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Councillor Trevor Cartwright said:
"Visitors will have options to choose whether they want to pay more or less, depending on how close to the shops they want to park. Cheaper hourly rates at Malthouse Lane and Trinity Street car parks will benefit the independent shops at the West End of West Street. No car parks will have an increase in parking charges, and visitors will be able to park for as long as they wish, with the 5 hour limit being removed from all car parks. This will benefit shoppers, businesses and the town centre as a whole."
Parking charges on Christmas Day and Easter Sunday have also been scrapped so people going to church services in Fareham town centre won't have to pay.
