Fareham Borough Council has awarded £2,360 to Generation 2 Table Tennis Club for the purchase of 4 new tables to practice the increasingly popular sport. The club applied for funding when membership numbers reached a point where attendees were not getting the table time needed to improve their game.
The club who train at Neville Lovett school are current league champions in both Southampton and Fareham/Gosport divisions. Other successes include individuals placing at local and national level and players competing in European Championships. With quality coaches their ability to maintain their current success and develop existing and future talent was limited only by equipment and 'table time'.
Executive Leader for Fareham Borough Council, Councillor Seán Woodward said "the allocation of Community Funding for the purchase of new equipment will enable this club to maintain its high standard as it expands to keep up with the growing popularity of the sport and provide world class resources for aspiring players at all levels and ages for many years to come."
The Community Fund is available to support projects that benefit the local community or environment within the Borough of Fareham. Any resident, or organisation based in the Borough can apply for money for one off capital funds from the Community Fund.
