What New Community?

A new community of around 7,000 homes, together with businesses, schools, open spaces and local services is being planned for the North of Fareham between Wickham and Fareham.

How can I get involved?

We would like you to help decide its name. Please take a look at the name choices and the history behind each one. Then simply vote for the name you like best.

What will happen next?

Once the consultation has finished on Sunday 31st March and all of the votes have been counted, the name with the most votes will be announced at the meeting of the Council's Executive on 15th April.

What are the choices?

Spurlings
The name 'Spurlings' is marked on the 1879 Ordnance Survey map. In 1841 it was occupied by Fareham resident Charles Osborn (1794-1859). Today, there is a Spurlings Road north of the M27 at Junction 11.

Swansdell
Swans Dell Cottage was occupied in 1841 by the gamekeeper of Roche Court and a labourer John Stares. Swans Dell cottage is marked on the 1879 Ordnance Survey map.

2. Vote for Swansdell

Welborne
Welborne relates to 2 fields immediately north of Kiln Road and south of Kneller Court. The land was owned as part of Fareham Manor by the Gardiner family of Roche Court.
