By-election date announced

A by-election will be held on Thursday 9 November in the Stubbington Ward.

Chris Wood, a Conservative Ward Councillor for Stubbington, and Deputy Mayor of Fareham Borough Council, resigned with immediate effect on 25 September, creating a Casual Vacancy.

Since then Fareham Borough Council has received two requests from registered electors for a by-election.

This means a by-election now has to take place. The chosen date for the by-election is Thursday 9 November 2017.

Details of the candidates standing for election will be published on our website no later than 4pm on 16 October 2017.

The election of a Deputy Mayor for the remainder of the municipal year 2017/18 is on the agenda for the next full Council meeting on Thursday 12 October 2017.
