Press Release

13 October 2017

Draft Local Plan Decision Called In

Fareham Borough Council has confirmed receipt of a notice to call-in the decision taken by the Executive on Monday 9 October to publish the Draft Local Plan for consultation.  That means that until the call-in has been considered and actioned as appropriate, the decision to consult on the Draft Local Plan cannot be implemented.

A special Scrutiny Board meeting has been called to consider the call-in which will be held on Monday 23 October at 2:30pm.  The meeting is convened solely for the purpose of considering the reasons given for the call-in and will determine whether those reasons justify the decision being sent back to the Executive to reconsider.  The outcome will be determined by the Scrutiny Board at the meeting which is open to members of the public. Further details can be found on the Council's website at http://moderngov.fareham.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=162&MId=3456&Ver=4

A call-in is a mechanism Non-Executive Councillors can use to hold the Executive to account in the decisions that they have taken.  It must be submitted by three Non-Executive Councillors who must provide reasons for the call-in.

The decision taken by the Scrutiny Board is entirely at their discretion and will be published on the Council's website.  It will be either to agree with the Executive's decision or to send the matter back to the Executive for further consideration.
